Storytelling Evenings at the Library

In the spring of 2022 the library received a $10,000 grant for cultural activities from the National Endowment for the Humanities. We are using some of the funds to sponsor two storytelling events designed to celebrate the many different cultures and traditions that influence our beautiful hometown of Boonton. Residents from every corner of our community are invited to participate by telling their stories!

For details about the storytelling evenings and participation rules, please see our brochure here.

Friday August 26, 7-9 p.m.: My Boonton Story

Share your special “Boonton story” whether you’re a lifelong resident or new arrival. It might be the story of experiencing your first Boonton Day, a special school memory, the day you made a new friend, a memorable evening — any Boonton-related anecdote that has special meaning to you is welcome.

Saturday, September 17, 7-9 p.m.: Celebrations and Traditions
(Please note: rescheduled from Wednesday, July 27)

Share a story of a cherished tradition or memorable celebration unique to your community or family. Traditions come in all shapes — the Indian art of creating beautiful Rangoli designs in front of your doorstep every morning to heralding the arrival of a new firetruck with a great wet-down! Celebrations, likewise, may be anything honoring the Mexican Day of the Dead to welcoming the changes of the season.

Here’s how to participate: Click on the link below and fill in your name, contact information, and a brief description of the story you plan to tell. Tellers will be chosen randomly one week in advance of each event.
